Fly Geyser is a geyser with several channels which is located in the black rock desert of Washoe County, a rural part of northwest of the state of Nevada, USA. The source of the Fly Geyser field’s heat is attributed to a very deep pool of hot rock where tectonic rifting and faulting are common.

The three pronged Fly Geyser constantly sprays, depositing minerals and enabling growth of multi-colored algae on its surrounding natural terraces. Though the first man-made geyser sat bubbling for decades, a second location was tapped for water by a geothermic energy company in the 1960s which was hot, but not hot enough to harness energy.
The well was likely not capped properly, which created the geyser. And why is it called “Fly” Ranch?
